PROJECT ONE CAUSE

Creative Direction and Film Case Study

Project One Cause is a nonprofit organization that supports families after a child survives a non-fatal drowning. These families are often suddenly navigating brain injury recovery, complex therapies, and long-term care decisions they were never prepared for. The organization provides guidance, financial assistance, and access to trusted providers to help families move forward.

The organization needed a creative foundation that could communicate its mission clearly and establish trust with families, donors, and partners.

I was brought in to lead creative direction and film production, and to develop a cohesive system that could support both immediate communication needs and long-term growth.

Creative Direction

The project began by establishing a clear creative structure.

The organization’s work exists in a space that requires sensitivity, precision, and trust. Every creative decision needed to reinforce credibility while allowing families’ experiences to be understood directly.

Rather than treating the website, films, and messaging as separate pieces, the work was approached as a unified system.

This ensured continuity across all public-facing materials and allowed the organization to communicate its mission without ambiguity.

The goal was not to add layers, but to remove friction—allowing the work to speak clearly.

Film Production

Film played a central role in helping communicate the organization’s purpose and impact.

These films allowed families to speak directly about their experiences, creating a human connection that written content alone cannot provide.

The production approach prioritized honesty and restraint. The objective was to create space for families to tell their stories in their own words.

These films now serve as foundational communication tools for the organization.

They help families understand they are not alone, and help donors and partners understand the importance of the organization’s work.

Website Creative Direction and Integration

The website was developed as the central platform connecting the organization’s messaging, films, and resources.

The structure needed to serve multiple audiences simultaneously:

Families seeking immediate help
Donors evaluating credibility and impact
Partners considering collaboration

Every element was designed to allow visitors to understand the organization’s purpose quickly and clearly.

The result is a system that supports communication, outreach, and growth without requiring constant restructuring.

Outcome

Project One Cause now operates with a clear and cohesive creative foundation.

Film and web structure work together as a unified system that allows the organization’s mission to be understood immediately.

Families can access resources and support.
Donors can understand impact and give with confidence.
Partners can engage with clarity.

The creative system provides a stable foundation that allows the organization to continue growing its reach and impact.
